The American Law Journal has released its list of the top Texas trial verdicts for 2011. Firm principal Tim Perkins was part of a 10 lawyer team which obtained a verdict of nearly $38,000,000, the largest contract jury verdict in Texas last year. Bluff Power Partners v. William Esping, Jr., ES Energy, et al, was tried for four weeks in May 2011. The case involved claims for breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract in a partnership concerning the harvesting and processing of methane gas from the Dallas McCommas Landfill.

Mike Kaeske, nationally recognized trial lawyer and lead trial counsel, commented on Perkins’ involvement in the successful outcome: “The plain and simple truth is this — We never would have won the case without Tim and the efforts of the Underwood Perkins firm. From the first days of the dispute — when Tim first began advising the client — through the hiring of trial counsel, trial and ultimately settlement, Tim approached the case with the objectivity of decades of experience, but with a level of commitment and concern that would make you believe he was advising a family member. Tim’s ability to stick with the case in the face of the strongest opposition, and guide and teach the rest of the team — including finding and integrating other specialty lawyers into the representation — showed a level of client commitment unusual in the practice of law. Every decision Tim made was spot on, and the result proved it.”
